PAN newsletter AUG 2026 - festival edition!

I was unable to send this one out due to email cap not being reset until aug 15th.. so i made it into a blog post instead:) Just wanted to quickly share any festivals I knew of that have a permaculture bent to them.. ie upskilling, natural building, food security, community building, land protection etc etc!

Here are the few I knew of to share..

 I am too late to share the classic local permaculture festival at Praxis Project as it happened early July.. need to make it up to that one of these years!

I’m late in sharing this one as it is well underway by now, but it looks like some great things are happening at Local Prosperity 2026 in Tatamagouche. Not too late to get in on the action.. check out the whole incredible schedule that wraps up tomorrow here.

The next festival I wanted to share is one happening in my neck of the woods, and that is the annual Sealight Skylight festival at the Deanery Project. On Saturday August 15th come check out all the changes around the Deanery lately (meet new ED Greg Puncher!), new builds by the Dalhousie freelab folks, and enjoy a day of music, activities, stargazing & bioluminescence. All the details here including a link to a volunteer form if you want to volunteer and have your admission waived! (like me:) Camping spots available onsite.

Finally, Save Our Old Forests' 4th annual music festival will be happening the following Saturday, August 22nd at the Beaver Creek Vineyard. This festival involves a market, kids activities, live music, and a forest walk and forest talk with Nina Newington and Donna Crossland. More information on SOOF’s website here.

*edit - there is also the Medicine of the People celebration happening on Saturday August 15th. For details on this day of herbal workshops and good times check out Green Man Botanical's website or social media.

 I am feeling the NS-centricness of this and most of my newsletters.. apologies for that! Please you NB and PEI people shoot me your things that I can share with the network.

I’ll keep this short and sweet, and leave you with this pic of a new edible perennial in my garden.. the golden purslane I got from Annapolis Seeds. Tasty, thrives in drought and heat and apparently one of the best plant sources of omega 3! All that and cute to boot;)

Enjoy the last half of the summer season PAN people. Reaping and sharing your harvests with your communities, however small or extended they may be. You are points of hope, light and inspiration.
